The Welsh bridge was closed today (Monday 19th March 2007) after a grenade was found in Frankwell. Part of Frankwell has been closed off after an "unstable" World War II hand grenade was found in a box of antiques. The grenade was found in a box brought in from a house clearance to Halls Antique Centre on the Welsh Bridge. The police have cordoned off an area around the building and are evacuating buildings near the scene. The bomb disposal unit has been called and people have been warned to stay away from the area. Traffic is being redirected via alternative routes. Dave Mellor Cycles are still open and can be accessed via Porthill, Copthorne Road and The Mount.
